Raechal Martin, Head Athletic Trainer
Raechal Martin is in her first year as Head Athletic Trainer at Independence Community College. Prior to coming to ICC, she was the Associate Athletic Trainer at Garden City Community College. Currently, she provides athletic training services to all athletic teams at ICC. Raechal completed her undergraduate degrees at Wichita State University (Wichita, KS) where she received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Athletic Training and Bachelor’s of Arts in Exercise Science, 2011. She also received her master’s degree in Human Performance from Lindenwood University (St. Charles, MO) in 2013. Raechal enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family and reading.
Jay Jones, Assistant Athletic Trainer
Jones is a native of Independence, KS, having attended both Independence High School and Independence Community College. Jones, a Certified Athletic Trainer, returns to ICC after ten years of employment with Mercy Hospital. Jones’ has five and half years of experience as an athletic trainer in the KJCCC, with previous stints at Pratt Community College, Independence Community College, and Coffeyville Community College. In addition to 10 years of experience at the secondary level by providing athletic training services to both Fort Scott High School and Independence High School. Jones earned a Bachelor’s Degree, in Exercise Science with emphasis in Athletic Training in 2000, and earned a Master’s Degree in Sports Studies in 2001, both from the University of Kansas. Jones also received his Associate’s Degree from Independence Community College, via reverse transfer in 2012. Jones also holds certifications as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and a Performance Enhancement Specialist. Jones resides in his hometown of Independence, Kansas with his wife, Valerie, and their three children Whitley, Deacon and Reese.
