Independence Community College offers scholarships on a competitive basis for academics, activities and athletics.  Recipients must be full-time students making reasonable progress toward a degree.

Scholarships for academic, activity and athletic programs cover expenses for Kansas tuition and books each semester.

  1. All students are responsible for the payment of student fees.

  2. Scholarships may be effective for up to one academic year.  All students must re-apply annually, with a priority date of March 15.

  3. All second-year (and after) full-time students under 24 years of age who receive a tuition and books scholarship are required to live in campus housing, unless the student lives at a parent's or legal guardian's permanent home within a fifty mile radius of Independence (with the exception of international students) if the student is considered a legal guardian for a minor child.

If a student, who otherwise would be eligible for the tuition and book scholarship, wishes to be exempted from this policy, must receive advance written approval from the Dean of Student Services. The scholarship award will be reduced to a value no more than $500 per fall and spring semesters, or $1000 annually.

Students may only receive one institutional scholarship and will remain on the original scholarship, unless special circumstances warrant a change.  Activity sponsors must agree to scholarship transfers.

Students must meet all institutional requirements as per the scholarship agreement to be eligible for the scholarship the following semester, i.e., minimum grade point average, attendance, activity participation and/or meet NJCAA eligibility rules in athletics.  (Qualifying GPA is based on final high school GPA or cumulative GPA after one year of college.)  If a student does not meet the scholarship and/or institutional requirements each semester, Independence Community College reserves the right to revoke the scholarship award (i.e., disciplinary reasons, lack of attendance and/or missed performances).

Kansas law requires an official transcript be sent from each institution you have attended.  It is your responsibility to make sure that each transcript is sent to ICC.  All records submitted to the college become the property of ICC and will not be returned to the student.  Any change of address or name must be filed with the Admissions Office immediately.
