Emergency Medical Technician
This program is
designed to train students in
techniques of the basic life support
EMT, based on National Standard DOT
curricula. The program consists of
lecture and clinical instruction,
and is taught in conjunction with
the EMT Advanced Practical
Skills/Techniques and CPR courses.
Completion of the program prepares
students for the State of Kansas EMT
test. This series of courses
provides students with a basis of
knowledge to further his/her
education in the emergency health
setting, such as Paramedic (MICT).

What is involved?
By enrolling in
the ICC EMT program students will
learn valuable training that allows
them to seek further training in the
EMS field, or use their skills to
work in one of the many emergency
medical training fields.
Students will
enroll in the following five
courses:
1.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
1 credit hour. HEA1041
2.
EMT-B, Part I, 6 credit hours.

3. EMT-B,
Part II, 6 credit hours. HEA 1126

airway, breathing and circulation.

Treatment of a variety of
patients with various medical
complaints.

cervical immobilizers, short and
long backboards and other
appropriate equipment for the spine
and head injured patient.

Emergency care of
respiratory problems, to include the
administration of prescribed
inhalers.

Management of patients with
traumatic injuries.
