Michelle Rutherford

Michelle Rutherford is a music professor at Independence Community College. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Music from Otterbein College and A master's degree from Kansas State University. Along with teaching at ICC, She has maintained a private piano studio for 10 years. Michelle also has teaching experience in vocal and instrumental music in the public school classroom. Along with teaching, Michelle is accomplished piano accompanist. She has accompanied for student juries at Northwestern University, numerous high school and college vocal concerts and musicals, and instrumental and vocalists in various competitions. Michelle has also served as a church pianist and organist throughout her career. She has directed the music for musical theater productions such as the Neewollah production of Willy Wonka. Michelle has appeared in various roles in college and community musical theater and opera productions. She has also been a member of the Dayton Symphony Chorus, Columbus Symphony Chorus, Northshore Concert Choir, Northwestern University’s Chapel Choir, and various choirs at Otterbein College. Michelle is also a proficient woodwind player has performed in bands at the University of Washington and Otterbein College.
