Q&A with Indy Head Football Coach, Jason Brown after claiming conference title

Q&A with Indy Head Football Coach, Jason Brown after claiming conference title

Q: What does this conference championship title mean to you and the ICC football program?

A: Winning the conference championship is a major stepping stone for this program and part of my plan as the Head Coach. It is the first Jayhawk championship since 1987

Q: When did the team find out that Butler had lost against Iowa Central and that you all had the chance to become outright conference champs? Was it during your game? How were you all able to remain focused on the game at-hand?

A: Butler had no significance, we were in 1st place already without them losing. We had the opportunity to be outright champs as long as long we won, our sole focus was to do that and we did.

Q: Has there been a distinct “game changer” this season? Can you narrow down some characteristics of your team that have contributed to their success so far this season?

A: One of the main reasons this team was able to be successful is because of how we prepare. We do things during the week that other programs won’t so that we can do on Saturdays what other teams don’t.

Q: With a tough lost against Butler two Saturdays ago, how was the team able to bounce back mentally to capture this important win? How did you and the team prepare for the Coffeyville game?

A: As a team we firmly believe that we are the only team capable of beating ourselves and that happened against Butler. We go into every game expecting to win.

Q: Talk about the emotions you and the team is feeling right now. Conference champs, incredible regular season, beating some of the top teams in the nation, likely on your way to a bowl game, etc.

A: We are excited to go to the first bowl game Indy has been to in decades. It is great for everyone involved to celebrate the success.

Q: What do you have to say about the history that you and the team have made already this season? First conference championship for ICC since 1987.

A: The history that we have been able to accomplish is a product of hard work by all the people involved. There is much more to accomplish and we intend to do so.

Q: There’s no denying that ICC football has developed an enormous following this year. Has the large home-crowd and huge fan-base been helpful for your team so far this season?

A: Our program has received so much assistance from everyone at ICC and the entire community. The community has believed in us the entire way.

Q: What is the team’s main focus now and for the remainder of the season? And how will you prepare for that?

A: Our team is focused on preparing for and winning our bowl game, winning recruitment and winning spring.

Q: How are you and the team handling the pressure of awaiting the news for bowl game assignments?

A: We will prepare to WIN no matter who we face. We focus on what we can control
